The Korean War began on the 25th of June, 1950 and was started by North Korean troops when they advanced into South Korea and invaded. This caught the South Korean forces off guard, which caused them to retreat back. The United Nations were very unhappy about the North Koreans invading the South Koreans and they ordered an immediate 'cessation' or an discontinuance and for North Korean troops to retreat. The North Koreans did not carry out these orders and the U. N security council advised that its members provided military assistance for South Korea and the U.S president Harry Truman agreed. All United Nation forces were put under U. S command who they made General Douglas McArthur on the 8th of July which was the day after they all agreed.
Allied forces were pushed back to the Pusan Perimeter* in early August, however, the Americans and the allied forces defended and stopped North Koreans from advancing any further.
